Several agencies recently joined together in Ashland, Kentucky to talk about keeping children safe on the Internet. Sponsored by the Ashland Police Department, members of the FBI, professors at Marshall University, and teachers from local schools held presentations about how to keep kids safe while surfing the web. The main focus of the seminar was cyber bullying, including how to use privacy controls and free and paid software tools to monitor computers and phones. In addition, the panel talked about the psychological and physiological effects of cyber bullying. They also discussed various cyber crimes, including they way kids’ personal information and private pictures and videos can wind up in the hands of sexual predators.
