Former Australian football player and current high profile Australian sports agent Ricky Nixon is resorting to legal action in response to a cyber bullying campaign organized against him. Nixon claims that he has been inundated daily with a torrent of harassing messages on Facebook and Twitter. He became fed up with these vicious attacks when a series of derogatory rap videos were posted about him on YouTube. The videos contained a number of nasty threats against Nixon, personal photos of the former AFL star, offensive allegations against his fiance, and audio recordings of prank phone calls made to him.
Nixon complains that he should not have to endure constant ridicule and harassment on the Internet simply because he is someone in the public eye. The negative effect that the cyber bullying has had on Nixon’s son, ex-wife, and fiance have pushed him to hire a lawyer and sue the individuals involved in the vicious online attacks against him.
