In Veazie, Maine, a 16-year-old student was arrested for cyber bullying a student and threatening her at least 27 times online. Also in Veazie, Maine, is a 15-year-old girl who is relieved and feels safe online for the first time in a while. Veazie Police Chief Mark Leonard described the case as, “just horrific. I mean stuff that really you don’t expect, or maybe you expect to see in a horror book.”
Unfortunately, cases of cyber bullying are on the rise, and most cases of cyber bullying go unreported. Parents and educators need to be aware of cyber bullying, and victims need to feel comfortable going to an adult for help. Cases like this one in Veazie, Maine should never happen.
