A bill, which aims to teach cyber safety, securyt and ethics to New Jersey’s Middle School children, was introduced into the state legislature and passed 37-2.
The Bill, A3292, will cover social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and teach the students of the consequences of cyberbullying and poor behavior online.
State Senator Teresa Ruiz, a Democrat representative from Essex, commented “Cyber-bullying is becoming a serious problem among children who may not understand the significance of their online actions. It is never too early to teach our youth that actions in the digital world have far-reaching consequences in real life, and this bill goes a long way towards doing that.”
The bill is to take effect immediately, and the courses will start in the upcoming, 2014-2015 school year.
