The Independent reports that occurrences of cyber bullying are increasing in the United Kingdom. According to a report conducted by the BeatBullying charity, over 33% of young citizens are victims of cyber bullying. In addition, 3% of them, or approximately 1% of all young civilians, have admitted to attempting suicide due to the abuse they faced online.

The article then raises questions about the protection victims face online. The author lays out some of her thoughts: “These young people need protection, but is it up to the law to, er, lay down the law? What about schools, and parents, and the social networks themselves? Cyber bullying is a worldwide issue that needs to be addressed. Statistics show that cases of cyber bullying are increasing worldwide.
