InternetNZ, a New Zealand organization, is holding local workshops to assist the creation of a bill outlawing cyber bullying. InternetNZ policy lead Susan Chalmers stated that cyber bullying is becoming more dangerous, and something needs to be done against it.
Chalmers stated, “The law should focus on the activities and the harms that they do, regardless of the medium through which these activities are expressed.” She believes that even if cyber bullying isn’t committed through conventional methods, the harms done to the victim remain the same. Therefore, the bully should be punished the same as well.
