A Nova Scotia Member of Parliament believes that protecting children from Internet predators is one of the greatest challenges facing society from a crime prevention perspective. Speaking to reporters following a crime prevention roundtable in Truro, which was also attended by federal Justice Minister and Attorney General of Canada Rob Nicholson, Parliament member Scott Armstrong said dealing with this technology-based threat is going to require the cooperation of all levels of government.

“It used to be that you didn’t have to worry about those sorts of things,” Armstrong said. “But now we’re facing children being at threat from pedophiles from all corners of the globe. So the work we have to do with the cooperation from our provincial governments, our municipal governments and the federal government to try and deal with this new threat to children, is something that I am going to be very heavily involved in.”
