Facebook has announced the beginning of trials of a new chat room feature, similar to the one from AOL in the 90s. The new feature allows for people to host chats revolving around anything, and for any of the friends to join without being invited, pretty much an open chat room.
This seemingly social idea can also bring in much harm. With teens on social media, conversations could get nasty in these chat rooms very easily, ranging from cliques ganging up on “intruders,” and fights after relationship issues (among guys, girls, and both).
Facebook sees this new venture as a way for the population to further increase the pleasure of social media. What it really is is a problem waiting to explode if proper precautions are not taken to ensure that cyberbullying will be kept to a minimum.
