The Australian Human Rights Commission has announced that entries for the national BackMeUp anti-cyber bullying campaign have exceeded expectations. The campaign, which invited people to submit two-minute films to raise awareness of cyber bullying among 13 to 17 year olds, has received almost 100 videos, resulting in 28,000 YouTube hits.

“We are staggered by the response and the high quality of some of these two minute videos,” Commission cyber bullying spokesperson Dr Helen Szoke said. “The videos tell it like it is – bullying isn’t just the stuff of the playground at lunch time anymore. Cyber bullying takes place anywhere, anytime, and is all the more damaging because the bullies have no fear and hide behind key pads and computer screens.”
