On July 17, 2014, Sean Parnell, the current governor of Alaska signed Senate Bill 128, which criminalizes cyberbullying, into law.
Senate Bill 128 (SB128), proposed by Senator Kevin Meyer in April of this year, criminalized harassment of a minor through electronic communication a class B, second-degree misdemeanor. Essentially, this bill makes it illegal for those under 18 years old to use electronics to bully others for anything which causes “severe mental or emotional injury” or makes a person feel threatened can be considered bullying.
