According to the Health Behavior News Services, teens who are cyberbullied are more likely to develop symptoms of depression, drug abuse and alcohol abuse. According to one study done by the Journal of Adolescent Health, 24% of teens had been victims of one cyberbullying behavior, 16% had been cyberbullied twice and 8% had been cyberbullied three times or more.
Cyberbullying is a growing problem, especially among adolescents. Different hurtful and harassing comments, images, videos, posts, etc… can be, and are frequently posted online anonymously. Messages from cyberbullies are often hard to trace and difficult to erase, since they spread like wildfire throughout the Internet.
The federal government tries as hard as it can to assist parents in preventing cyberbullying of children and teens.
